Job offer - EM laboratory technician

Background

The Core Facility for Integrated Microscopy (CFIM, www.cfim.ku.dk) is a life sciences imaging facility including both electron - and light/confocal microscopy. CFIM has recently acquired an FEI Teneo VS and CorrSight to expand research in serial block face scanning and CLEM (Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy). A full time position as EM Lab Technician is now open.

As CFIM EM Lab Technician you will have the following key responsibilities:

You will be co-responsible for all operational aspects of the CFIM EM specimen preparation workflow, including embedding, room and cryo (Tokuyasu) sectioning, Staining, Immuno-gold labelling, High Pressure Freezing, Freeze Substitution; Preparation of samples for SEM including Critical Point Drying, Mounting, Sputter Coating and preparation of samples for serial block face scanning; Preparation of samples for CLEM analysis.

You will work in a dynamic international multidisciplinary environment in close collaboration with CFIM staff, tool suppliers, device and process experts.

You will participate in organizing CFIM events, courses etc.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be dedicated to working hands-on in a clean lab environment and should:

  • Have several years of experience of standard and advanced specimen preparation for Electron Microscopy.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced setting, to multi-task and to prioritize assignments.
  • Have excellent organizational skills while remaining flexible.
  • Have excellent communication skills – English is a must, Danish is a plus.
  • Have a good computers skills.

Employment conditions for Application Specialist

The position as Application Specialist will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and Organisations of Public Employees Denmark ( OAO-S collective agreement). The basic salary starts at DKK 28.779,-
A monthly contribution to a pension fund is added to the salary according to the collective agreement, and a supplement could be negotiated, dependent on the candidate’s experiences and qualifications.
